All About St John's
A community focused pre-school with a Christian ethos
Who are we?
St John’s Pre-school is a non-for-profit OFSTED-registered pre-school which was founded in 1978. It was established by the congregation at St John’s Church as a way of serving the needs of the local community in Widnes. Since that time, we have been a constant presence at our Greenway Road centre just opposite the beautiful Victoria Park.
High quality childcare
As a pre-school we want to deliver high quality early years provision for children aged 2-4 years. We have a committed and passionate staff team who aim to make St John’s a fun and engaging place for your child to learn and develop. Our team of 6 staff focus on creating a stimulating environment where children are safe, happy and able to explore the world around them. Our small size means lots of individual attention, strong relationships between our staff and children, and strong friendships between children.
Every Child is Unique
Each child is appointed a key person, who will work closely with both you and your child to help them settle into a good routine at pre-school and to monitor their development through their time with us. Your child’s key worker will create an individualised play plan for him or her, which will promote personal development, confidence in new areas, and growing independence. As staff members plan for the group as a whole, they take into account the needs and interests of each child. Our low staff-to-child ratio means lots of individual attention.
The children are cared for in two different groups: 2-3’s (2 year olds) and 3-4’s (3 to 4 years old). Each group is managed by a separate team that is focused on providing the best care for that age group. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, which helps children to grow in confidence, build positive relationships, and begin to develop vital skills for later learning.
We’re also able to support children with disabilities and special educational needs, as well as those for whom English is not their first language.
As a pre-school we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive and open environment for all. We welcome applications from families and children of any background and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender expression or marital status.
